Ways To Make Your Relationship Work…
Spring is often the time for new things. But that doesn’t mean that you have to ditch your relationship and start afresh. If you’re stuck in the doldrums with your new man then don’t fear…here are a few ways to make your relationship work.
#1 Always put yourself first.
Don’t assume that by spending time bettering and looking after number one that you’re selfish. When you develop your own interests (cooking, learning a foreign language), you have more to teach the other person and your bond will improve as you’re adding new layers.
#2 Go to bed angry
Research conducted at the University of California, San Diego, found that people often solve ongoing problems during REM. So shun the old advice of never letting the sunset on an argument, have a good nights sleep and make up in the morning when you’ve had chance to process it.
#3 Stay off facebook
If you’re one of those couples who turn to facebook every time that you’ve had a fight with your man then stop. Same goes for posting too much information posts. The sign of a healthy relationship is no sign of it on facebook, or at least not the gory details.
#4 Avoid Toxic Friends
If your often hang around with other couples who fight a lot then you may wish to avoid them as much as possible. Research from Brown University says if your close friends split up, you are very likely to do so as well.
#5 Indulge in more quickies
So it may not sound like the most romantic notion but short bursts of passion keep you bonded because they release dopamine and oxytocin, two chemicals that trigger loving feeling
#6 When you leave work, leave
Don’t take your work home from you, we know its difficult when you’re carrying your office in your pocket but bringing work home can place huge amounts of stress on couples. Set a time limit for work, then unwind together before bed.
#7 Source what causes tension and then outsource it
Often row about doing the dishes? Or who does the hoovering? Well rather than spending valuable energy getting pent up, simply hire a cleaning service. The time you save rowing will be perfect for doing something fun.
#8 Learn how to manage your cash
Money is one of the most reported reasons for rows between couples. It’s often not about how little money a person has but how they manage it. Airing your finances regularly will sync you two for the long haul.
