The Ultimate Skinny Cocktails

Last week we blogged about being able to diet and date at the same time. You know how it is, dates mean drinks and dinner. Drinks and dinner = excess pounds.

But instead of sinking a few white wines and ingesting your days calories in a few gulps, here’s two recipes for skinny cocktails that will mean you won’t have to forgo a drink with dinner.

Skinny CosmoHewlett-Packard

1 shot of citrus-flavored vodka, 1 splash soda water, 1 splash cranberry juice, and juice of 1 lime wedge; shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass.

Mojito

Traditionally, mojito’s are rammed full of sugar. But with this recipe you can enjoy the Cuban classic without an ounce of guilt.

Fill a martini shaker with 1 cup ice. Add 6 wedges of lime,  1/2 tbsp lime juice, and 2 tbsp torn fresh mint leaves. Muddle lime and mint with a pestle or a long spoon until well-bruised and fragrant.

Next combine 1/2 tsp warmed honey, 1 shot rum, and club soda; stir gently to dissolve honey. Add to muddled mixture; stir until mixture is well-chilled. Strain into a glass filled with ice; garnish with mint and lime, if desired.
