Top tips on what NOT to do after a break up
Did you see the news report this week of the girl who got stuck in the chimney of a guy she met online after they split up?
No? Let me recap for you. Basically, Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, 28, had to be removed by the Ventura County Fire Department, California, after allegedly trying to break into the house of a guy she met on an online dating site. She had gone on a few dates with the guy in question but he decided to end the relationship (I think we can guess why).
So, what a good time to share with you some top tips on what NOT to do after a break up (we’ll leave out the tip about trying to break in to someone’s house as we know you dear readers are better than that!)
Quit texting for a bit…Break ups are hard, we know. But if you’re feeling as though there are still a lot of things unsaid, step away from your mobile phone. Seriously, every time you pick up your phone you’re going to want to text him so just go cold turkey.
Don’t wallow…YES you’re going to want to do nothing but curl up with a tub of ben and jerry’s and netflix but that’s going to make things worse. You can still be miserable out and about – but the chances are once you’re out of the front door you’ll be like “who?”
Don’t wear his clothes…This maybe a bit of a movie cliche but if you’re thinking of sitting around and weeping in to his oversized shirt then stop. Get dressed and refer to the tip above!
Don’t take your break up in to the office…The last thing you and your co-workers need is an awkward moment where you start crying at work. Seriously, leave the crying to the privacy of your own home.
Don’t rush out to sleep with someone else…The old saying goes “the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else” but that’s not really the best advice. The chances are it’ll be a crap experience because you’re going to be too hung up on your ex.
Likewise with relationships…What’s wrong with being single? Enjoy it! The last thing you want is other annoying man hanging around.
Don’t stalk him online (or anywhere actually). This step needs no explanation.
Step away from the motivational quotes…you know the ones. Where they are really passive aggressive cryptic messages. Just don’t post them.
NEVER sent the “ooopps wrong person text”…don’t got sending the text that was intentionally for him but was “supposed” to be for your best friend. It’s a cliche and extremely transparent.
