Best Night of the Week For A First Date
So, you’ve got a first date booked in with a potential catch that maybe you’ve met online dating through Urbansocial.com. Now it’s time to get up close and personal and meet them in the flesh. Apart from working out a location, an outfit and you chat for the night, make sure you give across the right message with the night of the week you book. It could have a big impact on how your first date encounter goes! Read on to find out how…
The Monday Date:
Urgh – Monday night is the antithesis of “date night”. It’s the least popular night of the week for going out and socialising, and even suggesting a Monday night date could be a deal breaker before you’ve even started!
On a Monday, you’ve been at work, you’re probably still recovering from the weekend so you’re tired, a little hungover and generally not at your best. It’s a night normally reserved for hitting the gym, catching up on chores or grabbing an early night. So arranging a Monday night date can give off the impression that your new date is the least important sociable engagement in your weekly diary.
The only real thing going for a Monday night first date is the choice of happy hours and meal deals trying to encourage people out on a Monday!
The Tuesday Date:
Tuesday is an OK night for arranging a first date. It’s still early enough in the week to not expect a late night out and you might pick up some happy hours or meal deals. You should have recovered from the weekend, and you know you’re at least half way through the week tomorrow.
The Wednesday Date:
It’s been reported that Wednesday is the best night of the week to arrange a first date. You’ve definitely recovered from the weekend and you’re looking for a break in your working week. You’re more likely to have a few drinks, unwind and stay out later, without worrying about the expectation of a stay-over because it’s still a ‘school night’. That gives you the freedom to be spontaneous! However you still have two working days to get through.
The Thursday Date:
Urbansocial.com believes Thursday is the ideal first date night. Thursdays have been dubbed the new Fridays for a reason. It’s almost the weekend, you’re ready to enjoy a night out knowing you only have one work day to get through if you overdo it. It’s a popular night for going out, so there’ll be a good atmosphere when you’re out. As you’ve allocated your date an important night of the week, you’re giving off a positive impression.
The Friday Date:
Friday night is a great night for a first date. It’s the end of the week, there’s no work in the morning, and you’re looking to unwind and enjoy a good night out. A Friday night date will however come with the added pressure for it to be a roaring success if you’re allocated this night of the week, which might work against you. No work the next morning might also carry the expectation for a stay-over. One or both of you might also have had a cheeky one or two post-work drinks before your date. You don’t want to start off your first date half cut!
The Saturday Date:
A day time date may sound like a good idea, but approach with caution. A coffee, walk, museum trip or the like may put you out of your comfort zone without the distraction of food and comfort of a few drinks. This could lead to a few more awkward silences that might not otherwise happen.
A Saturday night date sounds like the ultimate compliment in the social calendar, but it might not necessarily be the case. You may have more time or opportunity to get ready and dress up which may increase the pre-date nerves. There’s also an expectation that you’ve thought about and possibly planned for an overnight stay, which adds to the pressure.
The Sunday Date:
A late Sunday brunch or an afternoon Sunday session could work well if you’re not hungover from the night before and you’ve not got a daunting working week ahead.
A Sunday night date is possibly the worst night of the week for a date. You’re likely to be worn out from your Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights out. You might also be thinking about the working week ahead, and you’re unlikely to want to stay out if the date is going well.
