Get your kilts out and your bagpipes ready as it’s time to raise a glass of single malt to Scotland’s most famous son, Robert Burns.
Even if you’re not Scottish, Burns night is an excellent excuse to do something a little bit different and join in the celebration of the life and work of Robert Burns.
Here are a Burns night activities (or at least activities that Burns would be proud of) that you can do to impress your date…
Whisky tasting: Burns night is celebrated all across the globe so look around your local town or city to find a whisky tasting night.
Cook a Burns night supper: Whilst Scottish food doesn’t have the BEST reputation (deep fried mars bar, anyone?) it does have some redeeming factors.
For the perfect Burns night supper start off with some Cock-a-leekie soup
Followed by some Haggis, bashed neeps and tatties.
Then round off with a traditional Cranachan.
Go see some Scottish Dancers: Think that the Irish are energetic dancers? Well, you’ve not seen anything until you’ve seen the Scottish dance. Performing in full costume, Scottish dancers will bring a bit of energy to the celebration.
Head out for a Burns night supper: You may not fancy slaving over a hot stove to produce a Burns night supper so head out to your local pub or restaurant and enjoy it cooked for you.
Try this haggis burger: Who doesn’t love a good burger.

Have a Scottish picnic: Why not pack a picnic basket full of Scottish goodies: shortbread, scotch eggs, irn bru etc and head to your nearest local beauty spot. Yes it maybe be cold but wrap up warm and you’ll feel the spirit of Scotland in no time.
Whatever you’re planning on doing, don’t forget to polish off your vocal chords for a big, loud rendition of Auld Lang Syne at the end of the night.
